Yes . that’s a word. Go check thesaurus.
And I searched for it when I saw serendipity .. one of my fav movies ever!
And also found out that ‘serendipity’ is like one of 10 most difficult words in english to translate ( now how’s that for trivia? btw did I say its one of my fav words?)
So , I just wanted to know what one feels when some strange things happen , you know like a string of co-incidences , or signs pop out all leading to something . Like you run into something when you least expect it?
Anyways.. so thats the word.
Ran into VN. wasn’t supposed to till nov . He wasn’t even supposed to get online till nov. and there he was online and I was like .. am I hallucinating?
Its nice to run into old friends .. just when you are down and out in life!
He must be back on his ship by now sailing from Italy to Poland or someplace …
Hmm… its stopped raining and its all clean and washed up and pleasant outside… so i guess i ll think over more about why am i feeling THIS … as i walk and listen to “Thank you” ( by dido)

Okay so whats the big deal About Jane Tu?
There’s this nice boy , who meets a pretty girl . They like each other . Sing happy songs . Croon mushy lines . Laugh , hug , smile , cry together . But you know “unhone kabhi ek doosre to us nazar se nahi dekha ” So you see , they are confused if they really L-O-V-E each other . And then Jealousy strikes . Lo and behold . Everything sorts out to the makings of a happy ever after !
Dreamy ? ya right!
No i mean honestly . Whats the deal here. I thought of all the stuff that so typically cliche with the movie that i wonder why is everyone raving abt it being all fresh and all!
1. He dumps the perfect girl – All sweetness and Sunshine . Who cares . Who smiles all the time. Loves to walk into the moonlit night . Whose full time occupation is keeping you entertained - goe where you go , do what you like , NO friends of her own by the way all coz YOU are her world!
And you go ahead and realise you love this brat who screams at everything that moves . beats up everything that moves. whoever said Love is blind surely was looking for the word ”dumb!!”. Duh!
2. She meets the proverbial perfect “knight in the armour” to discover the kink in it , coz he’s the fiance who needs to pop in and out of the story quite conveniently.
I mean how vague can you get . He’s a karate black belt like you ve always wanted , soaked in monies , wear flashy labels , drives around in fancy cars . Parties ALL the time while his folks try to put together an empire for him to run. I mean WOW! and then when you oscillate between the now and the would have been , we see him turning the shade of grey from the sqeaky white . And when true love twinkles in her eyes , the poor fiance goes out of the window for good. coz you know what “hes the bad guy in the story!!!” weep weep!
3. You are all a bunch of kids whose immidiate worry is finding true love! i mean whatever happened to planning for a future? like career wise?
The relevance of the college is – its your groups hangout . plus it makes up for a nice background for all your happy songs when every one joins in so that ‘aditi has de zara’. Hmmm… i have always been fascinated by the way the youth of this nation knows their priorities , the burning issues and the solutions to all the worlds problems so well. Movies are such a heart warming reflection of the real life i must say .
We have no dreams . No short term / long term goals. no sense of direction as such. you know our biggest worry after the farewell party is .. boo hoo we wont be able to see our friends every day ! oh , how heart breaking is that!
And if by some strange twist of fate , we do realise we can look at ‘higher studies at amreeka’ as an alternative to ‘kill some more time coz you arent ready for all the shaadi business’ … all it takes is ahh some off-key singing , some last minute confessions , some melodrama ( yes , i ll totally ignore the fact that breaking laws on screen is as easy as breaking into a song and dance routine) to hold you back to apna bharat desh . Its tata to the higher studies as you hop onto the marriage band wagon with the ‘boy of your dreams’
this achy love – shove i tell you can be quite a life changing experience!
Hmm so after watching this typical hindi fillum . with all its happiness and glee and youthfulness and generally being lost and confused and yet taking it all in its stride attitude to life – why am smiling ear to ear and feeling all light headed and delirious in life.
Hmm.. so why am i doing that ? And if i am doing that , then why am i writing this whimsical soaked in satire (read sounding like an uptight stuck up in life 80 yr old out-to-change-the world idealistic critic?) Post… jane tu? Jane tu ya jane na? …:)
just wanted to see life from the other side. I guess i prefer mine anyday !
PS : Ah! am humming non-stop ‘kahin toh hogi woh’ & also that am bigtime crushing over someone who solely exists on the bigscreen AND am way past the ‘i have a big crush’ stage/age in life.. but ofcourse thats better unsaid…. and dreaming of atleast one melodramatic moment ‘just like they show in movies’ in my life too. hmmm… dream on .. dream on..
PS ( one of the exactly 3 people ahhh i guess 2 now that VN can be safely taken off the list , i talk to apart from AS who now has more problems of his own to handle than pretend to be interested in listening to my sob stories anymore) and me were playing this game. One of those typical games people play on a train journey … just that there was a twist in our case.
We were playing it over sms . Over two days. While one of us was travelling in train :)
Well this is how it went.
PS Says “Truth or Dare?”
CM says “I dare you to ask me some thing i cant answer”
PS says “What’s this one truth that you would nt be able to spell out in so many words, not even to yourself”
CM thinks . I dont need to answer this question. Coz there are too many. And i cant choose!!
Perhaps i would want to rewind everything i ve done in life. like refresh or reset. undo all the zillions of the wrong choices i ve made. and there are many. undo all that . and start with like a fresh slate.
But i wouldnt want to tell HIM that! Am too proud of this “devil may care” “no regrets ever” mask that i put on all the time.
CM says ” I ve always wanted a fairy tale. A knight in shining armour comes by and sweeps me off my feet . And we live happily ever after” Phew!!
PS says “Wow! you really ARE a GIRL!”
CM says “Yes , i am ” CM thinks … Yes i am :)
The games people play !
I think life really needs to get into 5 th gear , when some one asks you whats new .. and all you can think is “Would new things to work on .. be an acceptable answer to that one ” :D
well… life s been a little slow lately.
work wise , stuff ‘s happening. and i have discovered a friend i can speak to once in a while - who sort of some how decrypts the “what am i trying to say ” from the “what am i saying” and yet does me a big favour by simply listening :)
Also , have been watching a LOT of movies , the cute kinds? .. yep .. the feel good mushy sorts .
Princess Diaries , Legally Blonde , Sweet Home Alabama , That Thing You Do - Sometime 2 or 3 movies back to back – and its truly wonderful!
some people think thats an art . i dont know. maybe . for me thats how its always been! one movie a day – doesnt quite seem enough!
Saw Just like heaven .. Again too .. and that one has stayed with me long enough to name my post after it !!
So whats the movie about?
It was about a guy who moves into this apartment , still mourning the loss of his dead wife and realizes the spirit of the girl who lived in the apartment earlier is still around.
Together they try to trace her down and discover that she’s in a coma . the guy gets her back to life by some divine intervention and post a little bit of drama , they do get together and live happily ever after .
Something I loved about the story was , apart from that it was this typical fairy tale that I oh so wish happens in my life someday too ( some people just don’t ever give up)
I liked it coz it in such a simple way put across the idea of finding life in the living.
I need to do that. I have always taken pride in being able to do that.
its all i guess about finding your ‘happy place’ .. your heaven. and that place i guess is just a little corner inside your head!
On that profound note , i move on to reading books back to back … :)
